As you probably know, mental health issues are being recognised as more widespread than ever before and impacts on all areas of a persons life, as well as on an individuals physical health. Consequently mental well-being at work is now a responsibility of the employer (if the employee can prove the stresses of work contributed to their poor health) and if taken to court and found negligent, the employer can face an unlimited compensation cost.
Acas give guidance on how to assist with stress levels in the workplace in a managerial level but don’t include other stress coping mechanisms that an employee could try.
Some suggested by CIPD are fitness schemes such as in-house sports facilities or gym memberships.
The above are most definitely beneficial however finding time for real, deep relaxation would also be hugely beneficial. The results obtained from my clients after reflexology and massage treatments is testament to this and I would highly recommend employers consider this as an additional option for staff and indeed for themselves.
Reflexology is included in many health insurance packages so can be claimed back by the policy holder. Bik (P11D form) claims can be made through tax also (check with your accountant for more information or HMRC).
I can offer packages to companies for employees. Please contact me with any enquiries.
